  1. Institutional Regulations
    1. Office and classrooms:
      1. The Director, Physical Plant, shall administer allocation, construction or renovation of existing space.
      2. The Vice President, Business Services and the Senior Vice President of Operations shall administer provision of new space.
    2. Parking Lots: the Vice President, Business Services, shall consider Assignments or reassignments of entire lots. Individual staff assignments (Nurse, Handicapped, 30 Minutes, etc.) and partial reassignment of parking lots to accommodate changes in building functions shall be administered by the Director, Physical Plant.
  2. Procedure
    1. Institutional space for classrooms and laboratories shall have priority over other types of requests.
    2. Requests: All requests for space allocation, construction or renovation are to be submitted to the Senior Vice President of Operations and must provide the rationale for the request and an INDEX to which the expense may be charged.
    3. Approvals
      1. The request is to be approved by the appropriate administrator reporting to the President and then routed to the Director, Physical Plant.
      2. The Director, Physical Plant shall study the request, consult with the present user of the space, to determine possible alternatives, estimate of the cost of implementation, and then make a recommendation to the Senior VP Operations.
      3. Approvals may be given to:
        1. Proceed with previously budgeted funds
        2. Hold the request until funds are available.
    4. Guidelines: The following guidelines shall be used in revising existing space or in adding new space. Allocation of existing space may not follow the guidelines, but shall attempt to make the best use of existing space.
      1. Classrooms: 25 sq. ft. per student for tablet armchair or 30 sq. ft. per student for table and chair
      2. Laboratories: Varies greatly depending on specific use.
      3. Offices:
        • 350 sq. ft. - President
        • 250 sq. ft. - Vice Presidents
        • 150 sq. ft. - Asst. to Presidents, Dean, Director
        • 150 sq. ft. - Faculty (2 per office)
        • 100 sq. ft. - All other
    5. This guideline may change for unique circumstances or when pre-existing rooms are being assigned to staff with different positions.
    6. Time Constraints: A request for space assignment should be submitted at least one semester prior to date the space is required. Example: A space assignment required for the beginning of the Fall Semester would have to be submitted prior to the end of the previous Spring Semester.
