ECE 930 - Administrative Practicum Credits: 1 Lecture Hours: 0 Lab Hours: 0 Practicum Hours: 0 Work Experience: 1 Course Type: Open Experience in a community-based setting designed to further competencies in early childhood program administration, management and leadership. Prerequisite: 12 credits in ECE or Current Child Development Associate (CDA) credential; or must be admitted to the ECE program. or Instructor Approval. Competencies
- Evaluate skills and dispositions of effective early childhood program managers and leaders.
- Explore personal skills and interests related to program management and leadernship.
- Describe personal strengths and how they could be best used in managing and leading an early childhood program.
- Explore personal management and leadership challenges and options for growth.
- Review budgeting and financial matters of an early childhood program.
- Critique early childhood program regulations and related policies and procedures.
- Analyze effect of program policies and procedures on organizational climate, program quality or services to children and families.
- Evaluate implementation of policies and procedures in program setting.
- Practice methods of effective communication in an early childhood program.
- Plan, conduct or evaluate meetings or training sessions.
- Develop a variety of printed, electronic, or web-based communications or presentations.
- Engage in interactions with community partners.
- Design a leadership project intended to improve or enhance the program.
- In collaboration with program staff, identify project goals.
- Propose an action plan to address one project goal.
- Modify action plan based on feedback from program staff.
- Implement leadership project.
- Evaluate outcomes of the project.
