WEL 254 - Inspection/Test Princ: SENSE1 Credits: 1 Lecture Hours: 0 Lab Hours: 2 Practicum Hours: 0 Work Experience: 0 Course Type: Voc/Tech Students will visually examine test weldments and thermally cut surfaces per multiple welding codes, standards, and specifications. This course aligns to SENSE Level I, Module 9: Welding Inspection and Testing Principles. Prerequisite OR Corequisite: WEL 233 Competencies
- Evaluate cut surfaces and edges of prepared base metal parts
- Visually inspect cut surfaces and edges of parts
- Discuss quality of cut surfaces and edges of parts
- Evaluate tacks, root passes, intermediate layers and completed welds
- Visually inspect tacks, root passes, intermediate layers and completed welds
- Examine weld using proper measurement devices
- Identify internal and external discontinuities
