- Participate in the drills that are used to perfect agility and skill when playing the game
- Describe a brief history of the game
- Demonstrate comprehension of the basic rules and court markings of tennis
- Display proper etiquette in tennis
- Demonstrate the knowledge of scoring a game, set, and match
- Identify the various grips used in tennis
- Practice eastern, continental and western forehand grips
- Practice eastern and two handed backhand grips
- Demonstrate competence in basic footwork, backswing, forward swing, and follow-through
- Perform the basic skills of the serve
- Practice the backswing, toss and elbow bend
- Practice making contact with the ball
- Practice the follow-through
- Display basic ability to lob and volley
- Participate in the various tournaments that will be organized to provide playing opportunities for the class
- Explain selected terminology used in tennis
- Demonstrate ability to play both singles and doubles
