- Understand parts, visualize the weldment. Set it up with the required precision, and apply the proper welds
- Clarify the bill of materials, which provides part numbers, quantities
- Recognize surface, centerline and their relationship to blueprints
- Identify the starting points including surfaces, edges, and centerlines
- Recall accurate set-up requirements for accurate parts alignment
- Acknowledge where key starting points are
- Locates all component parts through use of extension and centerlines
- Attain dimensional tolerance and stock allowance
