ATF 328 - Ford Electronic Systems Diag Credits: 5 Lecture Hours: 3 Lab Hours: 4 Practicum Hours: 0 Work Experience: 0 Course Type: Voc/Tech Instruction in the operation and diagnosis/repair of electronic components and systems used on current Ford Motor Company vehicles. Required: Admission to Automotive Student Service Ed Training (ASSET). Prerequisite: ATF 312 Competencies
- Analyze inputs and outputs of Ford Electronic Systems.
- Describe what input is.
- Label input components.
- Describe what an output is
- Label output components.
- Study sensor and actuator operation.
- Describe types and operation of sensors. (HALL, VRS, Thermistor, etc..)
- Describe types and operation of actuators. (Bulb, Motor, Solenoid, etc.)
- Analyze operation of Ford electronic control modules.
- Describe operation of an electronic module.
- Describe what system each module controls.
- Explain different types of memory
- Explain digital signal processing.
- Evaluate electronically controlled system.
- Extract trouble codes from modules. (BCM, RCM, DDM, DSM, ICM, etc.)
- View PIDS for proper operation of systems.
- Perform Output state control on actuators.
- Diagnose Malfunctions in Electronic systems.
- Evaluate Ford Network Communication.
- Describe CAN bus operation.
- Describe HSCAN, MSCAN, LIN operation.
- Diagnose multiplex system.
- Repair system
- Assess Ford Infotainment systems.
- Differentiate between systems. (SYNC, MY TOUCH etc.)
- Describe APIM operation.
- Troubleshoot interference complaints.
- Service speakers.
- Use Ford diagnostic equipment.
