ART 173 - Ceramics Credits: 3 Lecture Hours: 0 Lab Hours: 6 Practicum Hours: 0 Work Experience: 0 Course Type: General Comprehensive “hands-on” introductory experience working clay. The discovery “process” of finding one’s unique sense of touch is stressed. Fundamental techniques demonstrated in hand-building and wheel-throwing. Concepts in ceramic art discussed, connecting cultures, artists and contemporary objects. Competencies
- Demonstrate a sensitivity/awareness to the material of clay.
- Demonstrate basic forming techniques and processes
- Demonstrate conversational familiarity with ceramic vocabulary
- Demonstrate knowledge of ceramic art history
