- Choose a creative project that will require problem solving
- Discuss the art elements that you will use
- Plan a one-hour session
- Motivate by relating to known artists
- Give clear directions; provide direction, not dictation
- Emphasize the process, not the product
- Show examples of the project
- Peer, guided critique of teaching performance
- Have the class clean up
- Display the finished work
- Define the visual elements of art
- List the artistic skills children should develop
- Explain personal fulfillment through art.
- Develop an appreciation for the role of art in society
- Develop an appreciation for our common artistic heritage
- Define media available for children’s use
- Suggest creative ways to use each medium.
- Identify arts of various cultures
- Identify one dozen major artists and their technqiues
- Relate artists to teaching assignments
- Explore an artist and that artist’s work
