This course focuses on minor electrical diagnosis repair procedures. Students use specialized equipment, service information and service bulletins. The course will develop student knowledge and skills in entry level tasks required when working in a repair-related occupation.
Prerequisite OR Corequisite: AUT 601
- Examine Electrical Circuits.
- Describe interior and exterior lighting component operation.
- Inspect interior and exterior lamps and sockets including headlights and auxiliary lights (fog lights/driving lights); replace as needed.
- Perform aiming of headlights following vehicle manufacturer’s recommended procedures.
- Identify system voltage and safety precautions associated with high-intensity discharge headlights.
- Discuss power windows and locks operation.
- Perform removal and reinstall of door panels while servicing window and lock components.
- Describe the operation of keyless entry/remote-start systems.
- Discuss instrumentation, warning indicators, and audible warnings.
- Verify operation of instrument panel gauges and warning/indicator lights; reset maintenance indicators.
- Examine windshield wiper and washer systems.
- Verify windshield wiper and washer operation; replace wiper blades.
- Practice Safety Procedures.
- Discuss hybrid high voltage systems.
- Identify hybrid vehicle auxiliary (12v) battery service, repair, and test procedures.
- Identify high-voltage circuits of electric or hybrid electric vehicle and related safety precautions.
- Explain active and passive restraint systems.
- Perform disabling and enabling of airbag systems for vehicle service; verify indicator lamp operation.
